Educational Leave

Educational leave ("Bildungsurlaub" in German) is the exemption from work for a set period of time for the purposes of continuing education. The right to take this paid leave from work is guaranteed by German law. Even though educational leave is a legal right, the details are subject to each German state and tend to be complicated.

The Berlin Senate has approved LinuxTag as an event for which workers can claim educational leave for several years now due to LinuxTag's free lecture program. LinuxTag 2014 is no exception.
