Bayer HealthCare just launched a new Open Innovation initiative, Grants4Apps. Developers get support grants for their innovative software projects in Healthcare IT or Pharma IT. Proposals can be submitted until 30th June. Many projects may be selected and awarded a grant of 5,000 or 10,000 euros. In this first round, Bayer will only consider applicants in Germany.
Project topics include apps for patients, bioinformatics tools, laboratory software, clinical trials apps, remote monitoring, sensors, health checks (Quantified Self apps, …), indoor maps, fitness trackers, robots, smart watch apps, wearable tech (tattoos, …) software, RFID embedded into products, alternative power sources (solar, kinetic energy, …) for health devices, software to improve health in the workplace, games for your health, digital assistants, artificial intelligence, augmented reality, Big Data for health, predicting behavior, personal genomics software. Bayer does not buy the software, take any "shares" in companies, or act as venture capitalist. Bayer only supports selected projects through grant money.
Grants4Apps is certainly interesting for students, start-ups, companies, independent developers, universities and institutes. The Team is happy to answer questions through grants4apps@bayer.com.
