Berlin, 14 May 2009 – The focus will be on Linux and Open Source in Berlin for seven days at the end of June when, from 22 to 28 June, the Berlin Exhibition Grounds will be the venue for five conferences on all aspects of free software, with some outstanding participants. LinuxTag, Europe’s leading event for Linux and free software, has become firmly established as the focal point for all these activities.
With its Congress for Business and Authorities (24 - 25 June) and its programme of papers (24 - 27 June), LinuxTag is providing a platform for prominent domestic and international experts from the Linux and Open Source community, universities and companies to present their papers for the fifteenth time. Domestic and foreign developers and users of free software for server virtualisation will be meeting at Xen Directions Europe (26 - 27 June). The international conference FUDCon EMEA (26 - 28 June) will focus on the latest developments in the Linux-based Fedora operating system. The latest trends in the networked society will form the subject of Berlin Open ’09 (22- 23 June).
With over 300 events in the programme of papers, at the Business and Authorities Congress, and at the workshops and tutorials, LinuxTag is the largest conference and trade show event for the Linux and Open Source sector in Europe. Administrators, developers and users will be able to choose from more than 40 thematic tracks – some of them with a direct practical application, while others will provide an opportunity to assess the latest technical developments. Both aspects will be featured in particular by some of the main themes of the event, and the track devoted to Business Processes will demonstrate that SAP and project management are now firmly established features of Linux. Two further tracks, dealing with netbooks and cell phones with Linux, will address the subject of mobility with Linux. The responsible use of IT will be demonstrated in the form of experience reports, along with advice from public sector authorities and from the educational sector.
LinuxTag also provides the framework for other specialised events: Xen Directions Europe 2009 is aimed at developers, academics, researchers and IT professionals with a particular interest in the subject of server virtualisation using Xen software. Experts will be attending from Intel, Oracle, Citrix and HP, as well as researchers from the University of Madrid and from the New York Polytechnic Institute. More details about this event can be obtained at www.xen.org/community/xensummit.html.
The FUDCon EMEA 2009 is a three-day conference for users and developers of the Fedora Linux distribution system. The community will be using bar camps and hackfests to deal with such subjects as the impending release of Fedora 11, open source educational applications, RPM packaging and system management with open source tools.
The Berlin FUDCon is the Fedora summit meeting for the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) sector.

In some 40 papers, discussions and presentations the speakers, who will be coming from Germany, Austria, Switzerland, other EU countries and the USA, will be reporting on their experience and presenting their visions of the future.
