There is a lot more to Java SE 8 than just Lambdas. In this fast-paced overview of the JDK Enhancement Proposals (JEPs) funded for JDK 8, we'll take a look at the major ones and learn about the top new features in JDK 8. Then, we'll switch gears and take a look at the development of updates for JDK 8 in the corresponding OpenJDK Community Project. We'll cover how to go about submitting bug reports & patches to becoming a Committer on the JDK, and submitting your own JEPs for JDK 8 Updates & JDK 9.

Dalibor Topic lives in Hamburg, Germany, and works as Principal Product Manager for Oracle. He joined the OpenJDK project in order to help make it a successful open source project, and stayed for anchoring Java in Linux distributions, and as an all around Java F/OSS community guy.
